Atheist Sues After NJ Rejects Her License Plate

Shannon Morgan, a New Jersey resident, has filed a lawsuit against the state of New Jersey after she was denied an atheist license plate. When she typed in 8THEIST on the site it told her it was deemed objectionable meaning it can be offensive to others but when she typed BAPTIST into the system the same message was not displayed but she could continue with using this word.At this point she decided to get a lawyer saying the are basically showing preference for certain religions over the other which is against First Amendment rights. She says it wasn’t just merely about this one issue but it was a bigger thing because atheist are treated by the government as second-class citizens.
